Data Pricing, Real Time and the Magic Quadrant

While our industry – finally –comes to the conclusion that digital services must be based on tangible, baked in value propositions, Ed Finegold believes that operators should follow the philosophy of Bruce Lee and be ‘like water’ – completely adaptable and ready to fit to any circumstance. Over the next few months we will see a wave of new and ‘innovative’ pricing plans as operators try anything and everything to capture the customer. We will be watching closely.

Of course, underpinning the roll out of value based plans and any other service that operators want to build into their platforms (formerly known as networks) is Real Time capability. The majority of operators now realize that a priority is to implement this capability into their postpaid systems. We will be leading the debate in 2013.

Real time is also a requirement in Direct Operator Billing – the best way back into the value chain for operators. However, with 90 percent of mobile browsers being vulnerable to various attack, browser based solutions will need to be well defended.

By the way, we think that Gartner’s latest IRCM Magic Quadrant is puzzling, to say the least – do you?

Wishing you Happy Holidays with some thought provoking reading.

Kind regards
